At the heart of the community

Located in the picturesque village of Rottingdean on the beautiful Sussex coast

Rottingdean, East Sussex

Gate Cottage sits at the heart of the beautiful village of Rottingdean on the outskirts of Brighton in East Sussex, within walking distance of the seafront and only a short drive from the South Downs and the city of Brighton and Hove.

Although peaceful, Rottingdean has a lot to offer and a large variety of activities take place throughout the year.

Community Activites

Whether you enjoy plays, concerts, bowls, croquet, painting, Bridge or just socialising, you’ll find there’s plenty to do in and around Rottingdean. Our staff are always on hand to advise and help you make the most of the local area.

Walking around the village

Just a stone’s throw from Gate Cottage are the beautiful Kipling Gardens (named for Rottingdean’s favourite son, Rudyard Kipling) where you can enjoy a stroll or relax in the rose garden. The seafront – and the Undercliff Walk – are also close by, while the village pond with its resident ducks, is a firm favourite among Gate Cottage residents.

Summer Months

In the summer months the village is a hive of activity. There are theatrical performances and bands playing at the open air theatre on the seafront, community activities galore in the village itself and plenty of restaurants, cafes and pubs just a short walk away; and every year, we host the Gate Cottage annual garden party. Not be missed…

Ken has had a great first year with Gate Cottage. I could not ask for more. The staff and facilities for Ken are excellent.
